Proudly South African: the bold, confident and safe All-New Isuzu D-Max is out now!

We, here at Isuzu Truck Centre, join bakkie lovers all around SA who are having trouble containing their excitement about the arrival of the highly anticipated Isuzu D-Max bakkie to our showrooms.

This is Isuzu’s most modern, biggest and most refined bakkie to date. Not only that, it’s also the 7th generation of bakkies produced right here in SA.

The release follows a significant investment from Isuzu of R1.2-billion in 2019 to upgrade its Struandale plant in Gqeberha. This has secured at least 1 000 jobs locally and as many as 25 000 jobs throughout the supply chain in South Africa.

The D-Max range consists of a 24-strong line-up of Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab models available with two engine options, five specification levels and in 4x2 or 4x4 guise. This makes this newcomer suitable for all your needs, whether you are looking for an all-encompassing everyday leisure and lifestyle car or a trusty workhorse vehicle.

Choose a revised 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine with 140 kW and 450 Nm in conjunction with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission but the D-Max also comes with a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine with 110 kW and 350 Nm of torque.

This Proudly SA bakkie has a clear sense of quality and attention to detail in the design which you can see in the minimised panel gaps between the doors, as well as between the cabin and cargo box, while the integrated two-step rear bumper is seamlessly incorporated into the sleek and sophisticated lines of the bakkie.

Despite its more refined and modern appearance, the new Isuzu D-Max is bigger and more spacious in all key areas compared to the previous model. The bonnet and load area have been heightened by 15 mm and 30 mm respectively, while the wheelbase has been extended by 30 mm for greater optimisation of the cabin structure.

Everyday comfort and convenience have also been enhanced with longer front doors for Single Cab and Extended Cab models, and a new longer rear door for the versatile and family-oriented Double Cab, thanks to the B-pillar being moved 25mm forward to further improve access for passengers in the back seat. Overall, the new design ensures that the Isuzu D-Max provides easier ingress and egress, matched to increased passenger space and legroom.

Those who want it all, can indulge in the V-Cross model at the top of the range. This specification level offers items such as leather seats (with 8-way power adjustment), 8 airbags and automatic high-beam activation for the lights. It is further differentiated by gun-metallic finishes for the grille, fender flares, door handles, side-mirror caps, roof rails and distinctive hooped sports bar.

The list with specifications is endless and our blog is too short to list them all.

So, what are you waiting for? Come and check out the all-new Isuzu D-Max bakkie for yourself! Book a test drive or chat to one of our expert team members at your local Isuzu Truck Centre branch.
