Isuzu to release 5 new automatic bakkie variants in 2020

Isuzu bakkie enthusiasts gather round! ITC is thrilled to announce that the much-loved Isuzu D-MAX range has now been expanded to include five brand-new automatic models. In order to give SA bakkie owners access to a fantastic new level of comfort and convenience.

According to Dominic Rimmer, senior vice president of technical operations at Isuzu Motors South Africa, this move was inspired by the fact that buying trends in the pick-up segment are changing rapidly. "We have seen a major upswing in the demand for automatic gearboxes in recent years, and the introduction of the six-speed automatic transmissions in the D-MAX 3.0-Litre models in 2018 was extremely well received," he stated.

This is why the brand decided to roll out automatic gearbox options on the popular D-MAX 250 models, including the X-Rider model, the mid-level LE, as well as the more commercial Hi-Ride. Rimmer also mentioned that the five-speed automatic gearbox has been developed to give SA motorist greater performance at lower running costs, as well as exceptional comfort and driving convenience in congested city environments especially.

Here are the five automatic Isuzu derivatives you can look forward to in 2020:

  • D-MAX 250 HO EXTENDED CAB HI-RIDE. The eye-catching, lifestyle-oriented Isuzu D-MAX 250 X-Rider is now available in a five-speed automatic transmission for the first time.
