In 1979, at the turn of the decade, the legendary KB range was introduced in South Africa for the first time. The second range followed soon after, in 1981, due to popular demand. In the meantime, our company was hard at work developing a prototype transmission called NAVI-5, a precursor to the modern-day CVT, and also launched our 3rd KB range in 1989.
Since then, Isuzu has gone from strength to strength, tailoring ever more popular bakkies that are designed with the needs and requirements of the South African pickup owner in mind. By going the extra mile and ensuring that every SA bakkie owner enjoys unsurpassed driving pleasure and unbeatable after sales support, we hope to remain a vital part of the bakkie landscape in South Africa for many years to come.
Originally called the Tokyo Automobile Company, Isuzu Motors Limited came into being when the business was renamed in honour of the forceful Japanese river that inspired our first ever vehicle.
